Fund Alert - Guy de Blonay leaves Henderson New Star for Jupiter

Guy de Blonay, manager of the New Star Global Financials fund, left the company this week to join Jupiter - the company he left 8 years ago.  The fund will be managed by Emily Adderson, assistant fund manager, going forward (source Money Marketing 28.10.2009)

The fund lies in the 'specialist' sector within the unit trust and OEIC universe, and as expected it invests largely in financial institutions such as Banks and financial services businesses.  It has produced some strong figures over recent months, gaining nearly 50% over the past 6 months (source FundsLibrary 28.10.2009), however should be considered an investment with the potential for volatility due to its specialist nature and focus on equities.

Whether the departure of Guy de Blonay to Jupiter will have an impact on the fund remains to be seen, and so investors may wish to keep an eye on their investment to monitor its performance going forward.  Guy de Blonay, meanwhile, will join Jupiter's financial team including Phillip Gibbs, manager of the Jupiter Financial Opportunities, and we will keep clients updated of any further news.
